Introduction

The vast Search and Rescue capacity in the United Kingdom is complemented by overlapping operational capacities which are inter-stitched in a network of regional and specialist teams.

Many are dedicated unpaid volunteers and all are very committed to the work they do in the pursuit of saving lives and helping people.

Here we list UK based SAR teams and their parent bodies.

There are teams which mainly support the Civil Defense type model of all hazard community support and resilience against threats and risks etc. This has come a long way since the early days with very highly capable teams of responders, many coordinated under the Civil Contingencies Act and Local Resilience Forums
